Spring 2009 Beauty Trends: Backstage at Malan Breton

SHOW: Malan Breton
MAKEUP: Margina Dennis for Make Up For Ever
MODEL: Nicola Hardy for Basic Model Management
BEAUTY BOTTOM-LINE: Luminous skin with a splash of color

THE LOOK: Lead makeup artist Margina Dennis was inspired by the Asian influences of Malan Breton's pieces. In order to complement the rich reds and golds in the Project Runway alum’s collection, Margina incorporated jewel tone shades of teal and amber on the models eyes, which stood out against luminous skin and lips. Margina started with her go-to-runway-skin-trick by mixing foundation and a powder luminizer for the perfect flush tone. “It leaves skin looking like it did when you were a little kid and just finished playing outside,” explains Margina. Teal liquid liner popped on the upper lash line with a little wing at the end and a flash of gold shadow on the bottom lash line gives that “hint of drama, but it’s not too overpowering.” Lots of mascara and a defined brow completed the eye look and to mimic the skin, Margina kept the lip peachy with a little bit of shimmer.
